New Look To Old Magazines ?

The answer to this is - Yes. I made a magazine holder using some old magazines and colored paper to keep the travel magazines and maps arranged properly and a photo frame that I made for my friend.
Old magazines, books, journals, papers, paper cardboard and cardboard boxes are a few things to name that can be definitely reused and recycled to give them a fresh new look and life.
How ? The most common answer when you browse  the internet is to “Donate” or “Pass them to friends or family“. I do agree with these ideas but to me, apart from those, the idea to make innovative recycled crafts is a bit more interesting. Though the crafts made from the used and old magazines is not a new idea and several people do follow and make crafts out of it, it is still is my recommendation to do so. I know it consumes a little of your time as compared to the other options but, I prefer this more.
Why ? because,

  • You make something by your own-self using your own imagination / help from the craft websites.
  • Things you make / made always remain with you life long as a memory to cherish.
  • These personalized crafts can be gifted to your friends / family as a token of love from your side.
  • You can stop worrying about getting rid of your dear and favorite magazines as you can still keep them to put into further use.
  • It keeps you busy when, you get bored.
  • Adds self-made decorative items to your home / room.
  • Reduces your expense while buying things that you could easily make.
  • You can start your own craft class/shop to teach/sell your hand made items.
  • You make things that are Eco-friendly.

Well, doesn’t that seem quiet a satisfactory list to convince ? May be yes or may be not.

Coming back to my magazine holder and frame –  I thought to make this magazine holder because I found a few magazines unorganized and scattered in my home along with some other old magazines gathered after cleaning  that had been piled up in one corner of the room. On seeing those scattered magazines, I thought that it is better to keep them organized and thus thought that I would buy a magazine holder. On the other hand, I was confused about what could be done with the used ones.  After a while, I realized that I could reuse the old magazines along with some soft cardboard box to make my own magazine holder. So, I took out an used cereal box which acted as the base stand for the holder and cut the box into proper shape so that the magazines could be placed properly. Then I covered the box with colored paper sheets and searched for some decorative stickers in the used magazines. I found a  plenty of them according to what I had planned. I cut them instantly. Lastly, I pasted those flowers to form a pattern. The photo frame also uses  cardboard pieces with bright and splashy magazine cutouts cut and pasted to form a colorful design. The pictures below are the final outcome.
