An Afternoon Watching The Serengeti Predator

I went to Oregon Zoo with my friend (the same friend whom I had met during my trip to California) a day before yesterday just to watch the Serengeti Predators along with the African Savanna animals

cause both of us had never seem them before and, we knew that going to Africa to see them in their real and natural habitat is not going to be happening very soon.

So, rather than going to see different places around in Portland, we thought of going to the zoo.

A very little information (there is definitely more information than what I have mentioned) about Serengeti  -

  • Serengeti area is in Tanzania, Africa.
  • Popular for Serengeti National Park and also considered to be one of the best national parks.
  • Each year, a large number of animal migration takes place and has a high population of predators in the park.

The Oregon zoo is not build in a very large area, but is quiet big enough to take away your few hours from the day to spend watching different animals  and their activities. Although we both preferred walking, the zoo also provides trains that take you around the entire zoo area.

As the zoo is divided into different regions like Asia, Africa, Pacific etc., we both were excited to see the African section. On reaching there we finally got to see what we had been wanting to and waiting for. Right from Giraffe, Zebra, African Lion and other animals we were able to see them all and that too from a close distance.

Although the Lion was far away from the view point and I  could not see it very clearly, I was more than happy to be able to get a glimpse of an African Lion. We moved further ahead to see other predators. Here, I saw and spent few hours watching one of the Serengeti Predator – Cheetah.

There were two of them nearby the view point sitting calmly enough for me to capture their pictures(probably that’s the reason why I was here for the longest). We were there in the African region for a few hours and then moved on to the other sections of the zoo satisfied with what we saw.

The other sections also had animals that we had never seen like the Humboldt Penguins, Polar Bears, etc. Overall I had a very good and an enjoyable experience as I got a lot of opportunities to bolster my photographic skills and see something new. I would definitely recommend this place for all the other people too if they get a chance to go to Portland.
